Associates Program

CONTINUING EDUCATION AT STRATEGIC CAPITAL

The Associates Program was instituted in order to utilize young talent and provide undergraduate and graduate students with invaluable business experience. This program introduces each associate to the entire strategic planning process, from the New Venture log-in, to reviewing a business plan, finding investors, financing a company, and continuing a consulting relationship with a company after it has been financed.

Alumni of the Associates Program

Wendy Shotts: "I've become experienced at dissecting business plans and determining whether a deal is fundable. I've learned what it takes to make a business plan "investment-grade", and how critical communication style can be in negotiations and business discussions."

Jonathan D. Masland: "Met and exceeded my personal and professional objectives."

Jamie L. Wacks: "You've provided me with an invaluable education in business, and I now plan on applying to business school/law school in the fall. It's nice to come to work everyday to work with someone as enthusiastic as you and you're also a great role model for an aspiring businesswoman/lawyer."

Taylor Strauss: "I never thought I would be able to utilize so much of what I learned at college in a practical manner and still be challenged by the in intricate complexities of so many industries. I was challenged and inspired."

Arpan Jhaveri: "Educational. Insightful. Inspirational. At Strategic Capital I was given the freedom to learn and to execute. I was encouraged to question precedence and contribute unconditionally. Carrie McIndoe's support, understanding, and guidance are truly invaluable. The experiences and skills gained through the Associates program will certainly be carried throughout my professional career. "

Eleanor Glazewski: "The experience I gained while being an Associate at Strategic Capital Resources was invaluable. While my friends made copies and answered phone calls at their internships, I felt like a real mover and shaker. I was actually involved in making real business decisions with real clients!! If I had to do it all over again, without a doubt I would choose SCR and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to do an internship!"

Vitaly Mescherin: "Case study solving, telephone and meeting negotiations, brainstorming, business plan evaluations and presentations as well as learning principals of due diligence process during my internship program helped me to obtain brillant and priceless experience at a part of American business your company represents. In particular, I became familiar with American standards being applied today for writing and evaluating of a business plan."

Rosa Wu: "I came in knowing that I would learn more about business plans and venture capital, but I had no idea how much I would grow as a person. More important than any specific skill or knowledge, I learned a lot about people. People- those that will end up being the center of my world no matter what I decide to do later on."

Leslie Dowd: "It was great to affirm and see in-action everything that I'd learned during the Babson MBA program. While here, I definitely improved my skills at summarizing and discerning the important components of business plans, and learned more about what makes deals and plans "fundable". I also learned a great deal about communications and interviewing. I have been able to apply everything I learned directly or indirectly in my new career in consulting."

David Lucia: "I believe."

Stanley Maragos: "The eagle gently coaxed her offspring toward the edge of the nest. Her heart quivered with conflicting emotions as she felt their resistance to her persisting nudging. Why does the thrill of soaring have to begin with the fear of falling?...The eagle drew courage from an innate wisdom. Until they learned how to soar, they would fail to understand the privilege it was to have been born an eagle. The push was the greatest gift she had to offer." THANKS FOR THE PUSH! M. L. Graeme Campbell:
"I don't want to go."

"Working at SCR with Carrie McIndoe was very inspiring and gave me a new meaning of true hands on experience. The interaction with the entrepreneurs and business plans gave me exposure to the world of investment banking and venture capital. The environment at Strategic Capital Resources is one where entrepreneurial spirit and ideas become strategic plans and successful ventures through dedication, perseverance and hard work. I enjoyed it very much."

Pamela R. Van Sipe: "What I have learned at SCR in the last three months exceeded my expectations for an internship, and I don't believe another firm could have matched the experience in either quantity or quality."

William Lestan: "The program provides a real life experience that tests the Associate's ability to tie in all business disciplines, handle numerous personalities, and negotiate competing visions in a company."

Claire McHale: "I have also learned how to look at business plans from the investors perspective rather than the founders. I have learned some valuable lessons of how important it is to focus on a coherent business strategy rather than trying to develop a product that tries to be 'all things to all people'."

Jennifer Corcoran: "SCR allows me to work in a creative autonomous working environment where I can directly apply my MBA skills to assist CEO's of emerging businesses to realize their potential while also enhancing my career options and earning power."

Eugene Clark: "The Associates Program was very challenging and rewarding due to the great insight I gained about the venture capital arena and the opportunity to strategically position a company for equity capital fund raising."

Geoff Marshall: "I am ready for my next project"

Barney F. Schauble:
"SCR is emblematic of the innovative spirit needed to succeed in financial services today. I learned a great deal about how to approach problems creatively and structure financial solutions to help business ideas become reality -- and I still draw on that SCR experience every day."

Stanley Maragos:
"At SCR, there was no stapling of documents or orders for coffee, but a fostering of ideas, talent and knowledge."

Matthew Price-Gallagher: "My experience at SCR was a timely and valuable one in that it allowed me to use and modify the technical skills I just learned at Babson with what actually happens in the day-to-day world of entrepreneurs. The open and educational culture that Carrie promotes was a very enjoyable environment in which to gain this experience."
